About Me

My name is Alix, a 30 something soon to be University graduate, finishing off studies in Compluting and Game development at Plymouth university

I have a passion for Gaming, Dungeons and Dragons and all things 80's (well most things 80's anyway)

I am currently completing my honours project and seeking employment in the games industry in the Colchester, Essex area

Prior to university I gained 10+ years of customer service and sales experience

With a need to constantly keep the cogs turning I enjoy reading daily, currently tackling the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson, and have read through many incredible adventures to date

I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd and Italian food lover

I spend most of my free time exploring a plethora of games, attempting to become the greatest manager of all time in Football Manager (a series I’ve played since 1996), striving for those chicken dinners on PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds and avoiding scurvy on Sea of thieves.

My Work

Previous Work

Time VR

As part of the Peloozoid Labs team, we created a virtual reality puzzle solver, where the player had to solve a series of puzzles to get to the next level.

Primarily, my role on this development was as the lead designer, ensuring the look and the feel of the game fit with our ideas, creating the assets used throughout and creating some of the puzzles mechanics.

Current Project

Project Getaway

For my final project at university I wanted to create a getaway driver game, which utilises procedural generation for level design.

The games algorithm creates a tile-based world filled with roads and parks, following a set of rules I have endeavoured to follow from the start.

This project showcases a few of the skills I have obtained during my time at university.

Previous Work

Cubes!

Cubes! Was a game I worked on for an assignment during second year, the premise was to navigate a randomised dungeon, turning left or right whilst being chased by a man eating cube.

The game was a very crude implementation of randomisation, where the players choice to turn left or right would result in death or progression, during development of this game I learnt a lot and was generally displeased with the final outcome, but to grow we must fail.
